There are approximately 38 courthouses located in Los Angeles County and nine in the city of Los Angeles. Those nine are;  Airport Courthouse, Central Arraignment Courthouse, Central Civil West Courthouse, Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center  , East Los Angeles CourthouseEastlake Juvenile Court, Mental Health Courthouse, Metropolitan Courthouse, and the Stanley Mosk Courthouse.  The easiest thing to do is to go to the LA Superior Court website and enter the city or courthouse name to find their address.



What is the Los Angeles Superior Court?

The Los Angeles Superior Court system handles all legal matters within the county of Los Angeles. They also have a community outreach program that brings the diverse community and the judges together to bring justice to legal issues that the wide variety of people face each day. They also work to encourage young adults who are interested in the legal system to go to school and work in the field.

Where Can I Pay Traffic Tickets in Los Angeles County?

Paying your traffic tickets is easy when you can do it online! You can either enter your ticket number or your driver’s license number to locate your citation. You can also make requests for an extension, arrange a payment plan, request a court hearing, check your citation status, and request Traffic School. If you are unable to pay online, do a search for the city that you received the citation and visit that courthouse to make your payment.

Los Angeles Superior Court Hours

Hours vary at each of the courthouses but are overall only open Monday through Friday. Airport Courthouse, Mental Health Courthouse and Central Arraignment Courthouse is open from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Central Civil West Courthouse and Stanley Mosk Courthouse is open from 7:30 am – 4:30 pm and their Clerk’s office is open 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center is open from 7:00 am – 5:00 pm and their Clerk’s office is open from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. East Los Angeles Courthouse, Metropolitan Courthouse,  and Eastlake Juvenile Court is open from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.

Case Lookup in Los Angeles

You can look up your case online with relative ease by using their case calendar under the Online Services header on the webpage. You will need your case number and the division your case will be heard. If you don’t have a case number you can search your case by courthouse location and a timeframe.  The exception is for Traffic court, you will look that up by your ticket number or driver’s license.

Court Ordered Parenting Classes

For custody cases, the LA Superior Courts will require you to attend mediation and parenting classes to make the best of custody situations between the parents. Our Children First is an online program that parents are required to complete just once. Any further issues will be addressed with a court-referred therapist to alleviate problems in the homes.

If you are in need of a restraining order, the courts have created a helpful document that can help you navigate the system. You can also locate a courthouse in which to file your documents. Many of them offer assistance in filling out and filing the appropriate paperwork (highlighted in red on the linked document).
